New York Bound

I'm back! I cannot tell you how excited I am to start feeling better and back at blogging. I have had pneumonia for the past 2 weeks and it literally knocked me off my feet. The last time I remember being that sick, I had mono and strep throat...and that was 6 years ago. Either way, I'm back and ready to share more about What to Wear & How to Wear It.

Prior to getting beyond sick, I visited a good friend in New York. Having never been to New York, she showed me the ropes and I was able to act like a total tourist. From Bryant Park, NY Library, Town Square and then Central Park...it was amazing! I even got to see the NYC Marathon. I still didn't get the hang of catching a cab but next time I will do better. Plus New York has the best restaurants in the country. We ate tons of great food and was surrounded with great company.

Thanks Lise and friends for a great trip!!

R.U.B.Y. - Lucky Magazine

In this week's addition of R.U.B.Y. by Kaley Elizabeth, I could not be more excited. I was looking through my October issue of Lucky and found a R.U.B.Y. piece. The article was on "Biker Chains" and how "These pieces come off more chic than Harley but with just as much attitude. OMG! I couldn't believe it.

The piece featured in the magazine is $79 and can be found at Talbots. The R.U.B.Y. piece is $16.50 and can  be purchased through me.

So Crisp and Clean

As I was looking through my closet today, I came across my classic white button-down shirt. This is probably one of my most versatile pieces in my entire closet. They're simple, chic, and can easily be dressed up or down, making them an essential item in any wardrobe. I would suggest if you do not have one yet, go to your nearest Banana Republic, Macy's, Nordstrom, or any store for that matter and purchase.

Below are 3 completely different types of outfits that will work with the white button-down.

1. Brunch - Skinny jeans, white button down, ballet flats, bright scarf, Kate Spade bag and Armani sunglasses.

2. Day at the Office - Pencil skirt, white button down, belt, Banana Republic pumps, Anne Klein watch and Armani sunglasses.

3. Hippy Chick - BCBG Tan Vest, white button down, Fedora, Express shorts, Riding Boots and R.U.B.Y. fringe bag.

Check out how the Stars are wearing the button down...

If you have other suggestions for how to wear a white button-down, leave a comment!

Some Things Never Change

Not too long ago I was at my parents home in Ohio. I have 2 aunts and 3 uncles on my dad's side of the family. That afternoon, they decided to bring photo's from their childhood for the family to look through. I love anything and everything vintage so I cannot tell you how excited I was to go through hundreds of pictures of my dad, aunts, uncles, and grandparents during their younger years.

I came across one picture that really made me stop. It is my Great Grandma Grace. She is absolutely stunning in this picture. She is wearing a camel color trench coat, chunky necklace and classic black handbag. She looks timeless.

I am sure we have all heard people say or have said "I should have kept my leather jacket because they are in style today!" My Great Grandma knew what she was doing. An elegant and classy lady. I think she would be proud I have a camel color trench coat and always wear accessories!

R.U.B.Y. by Kaley Elizabeth

R.U.B.Y. by Kaley Elizabeth is such an adventure and I am loving every second of it. For those that do not know, I buy jewelry and accessories that are in style/season from Designers all over the US and resell. I watch trends, the runway, magazines and anything I can get my hands on to determine what I buy. At this moment, I have all my pieces at my home boutique but my goal is to be store front in 3 years.

Because my pieces are not visible to the public at all times, I have made the decision that every week I will be featuring a new R.U.B.Y. piece.

This week is a super fun necklace that anytime I wear, I get compliments! It's a silver flower bib necklace priced at $14. Ginnifer Goodwin is wearing a similar piece and just looks amazing.

If you are interested in this necklace, please email me at kaley_hedric@hotmail.com.

A Touch of Vintage

In a recent visit to Columbus, Ohio I came across an amazing boutique called Francesca's. If I tell you this store was made for me, that would not even justify it. The clothes are ahhh-mazing and I have found some spectacular Fall staples to add to your wardrobe.

(Left to right)
Isla Coat - Camel double breasted peacoat that is the perfect classic coat. Love this paired with a chunky scarf! $84.

Wild Child Vest - Faux fur vest! It's the ultimate Fall staple and show stopping piece when paired with jeans and a T. $44.

Act of Pursuit Jacket - This jacket is amazing. The wool blended fabric plus the neutral color and the extended collar...OMG! What couldn't you pair this jacket with?! Jeans, leather shorts, etc. $64.

Purr-fect Trench Coat - Trench coats are a must have for the Fall. If you do not have one, please buy one! It is a purchase that you will wear almost every day in the Fall. This trench is animal print and also super trendy for the Fall. $54.

Find a Francesca's near you.

Chocolate Covered Sweetness

I cannot tell you how excited I am for the weekend. It is the first weekend that I will actually be in town! I feel like I have been driving back and forth from Michigan to Ohio almost every weekend in September for wedding planning and I am looking forward to a weekend at home.

The most excited part about the weekend is DJ's grandmother is coming into town. It's been a couple years since she has visited Michigan so we are very excited for her arrival. To welcome her to the chilly city, I picked up these amazing chocolate covered Oreo cookies from Gayle's Chocolates in downtown Royal Oak. Nothing like a sweet festive treat to welcome her!

Unlock the Style Key

Did anyone catch last night's episode of Gossip Girl?! Apart from the shows obvious good taste in clothes, food, wine, and the sorts, the main character last night was a Tiffany's Fleur de lis Key Pendant with round brilliant diamonds. Just gorgeous!

At $2,650, not everyone can afford such an amazing piece. Here are a couple other options to still give you the Gossip Girl appeal at a more affordable cost.

Nordstrom - $88
Nordstrom - $58
Delia's - $14.50

Ohio Has Style

I seriously had one of the best weekends I have had in quite a while. We spent the entire Saturday shopping at Easton Mall and I may have bought something at every store we visited. Easton may be one of my favorite locations to shop.

I bought an amazing animal print blazer at Francesca's. I have been looking for an animal print to complete my Fall wardrobe and was so excited to have found it. And at an amazing price of $44!

While I cannot wear this, I found it so cool and unique to the area. This is a security car at Easton Mall. I mean, when do you ever see security driving around in this?

We also ate at McCormick and Schmick's and had the most delicous dinner, dessert and wine. Dessert was chocolate in a box! I mean...seriously?!

Much needed family time with an amazing family!

I think we even have some plans to see a show. It's safe to say the weekend will be busy and fly by, but nothing is better than spending time with friends and family.

You never know what the weather has in store for you in Ohio so I am definitly bringing along my favorite trench coat from Banana Republic, a tweed Blazer and my tan knee high boots.

Can't wait!!

Season of Capes

I was so inspired this morning when I came into work and saw a co-worker wearing a cape. It's a Euro chic touch to any outfit and I think it's fabulous. I fully embrace any and all trends and I get even more excited to see what celebs do as well.

According to Zimbio, Ke$ha has started a clothing line. And what trend do you think she has taken on? You got it...capes! "[My line] will be coming and there will be capes involved. I'm trying really hard to bring back capes. They've been out since the 1800s, it's about time they came back."

What do you think? Would you wear a cape? Share your thoughts in the comments!

Guilty Pleasures

Thinking about this upcoming Fall Season, I plan to embrace the cooler weather with warm accessories. Suede, Faux Fur, and basic colors will add a touch of elegance and comfort. And who doesn't love to wear fabrics that just make your skin melt?!

The softness of this clutch from TopShop will go with any outfit. You can dress it up or dress it down. I am picturing LBD with this rockin' clutch and over the knee boots. I just got chills thinking about it. And how amazing are these booties from Speigel. $99 and worth it! I would pair with skinny jeans and a white boyfriend button down. I can only imagine how amazing the inside of these boots are with fur. Like walking on a cloud...

Over the Knee Obsessed

I can honestly say I am obsessed with the over the knee boot for this Fall. It is not like this was not an ultra chic trend last Fall. I just wasn't sure if I was ready to take it on in. Well, I have turned over a new leaf in the past couple weeks and I am ready. Here are a few pairs that have caught my eye.

Colin Stewart at Victoria's Secret - $134.40 (with coupon). Also comes in black and at the top of my list.

TopShop - $210

Chineese Laundry at Amazon - $65

Can you see yourself in any of these boots this Fall?

Walking In Style

One of my favorite trends this Fall (and I have a couple) is leopard print. I have chose to focus on leopard print shoes but I also adore an animal print clutch, scarf, skirt or whatever piece stands out. The key to wearing any animal print is in modesty. Too much and you will look like a jungle cat. Just the right amount and you will be walking in style.

Which pair would you wear?

1.2.

3. 4.

5. 6.

1. Christian Louboutin - $855
2. Jessica Simpson - $110
3. Nine West - $89
4. Mossimo at Target - $29.99
5. Tory Burch - $355
6. Newport News - $49
