Birthday!!

Yesterday was a very special day for my fiance...it was his birthday! Seeing as yesterday was Tuesday, we very well could not be going out all night partying. Or, we could, it would have just made for a very long week. So instead, I took him on an evening of surprises.

Two of his favorite things are pizza and golf. So first things first, we went to get Pizza at a delicious outdoor restaurant in Birmingham, MI called Brooklyn Pizza. It's ranked one of the Best in Detroit. Next was his second most favorite thing, golf. I took him to a driving range so he could hit some balls. I have to say I was pretty proud of myself for keeping the day a complete secret. I am known to tell him all his Christmas presents before Christmas.

You may be wondering, what does this have to do with fashion? It actually doesn't. Besides the fact that he looked adorable in his plaid Express shorts and orange Hollister button down shirt. I just wanted to let you in on a little piece of who I am.

R.U.B.Y. Out and About

Nothing makes me more happy than to see R.U.B.Y. jewelry out and about. Whether it is dinner with friends, an outdoor wedding or to the grocery store, seeing someone wear a necklace or bracelet and looking great is just about as wonderful as chocolate cake...and I love chocolate cake!

This past weekend, a good friend went to an outdoor wedding in Northern Michigan and wore one of my favorite R.U.B.Y. pieces. It's a gold tone petal necklace in brown, aqua, pink and cranberry crystal cuts. She wore a black cotton dress and neutral cardigan. While the dress she wore was casual, the necklace took it up a notch and pulled the outfit together nicely.

She said, "The necklace was a hit!" Thanks for sharing, Carrie!

This is Not Your Typical Jewelry Party

Last week was a very exciting week for R.U.B.Y. by Kaley Elizabeth. I hosted the very first "This is Not Your Typical Jewelry Party". Friends and family gathered at my home in Michigan to take a look at fabulous jewelry pieces for Spring/Summer 2010.

A very big thank you to everyone who attended and I look forward to many more spectacular nights of fashion in Detroit.

Summer in the workplace

Fashion in the workplace can be a tough battle each morning when you are getting dressed. This is especially true in the summer months when it is hot and all you want to do is put on a pair of flip flops, jean shorts and a tank top. However today, I was super excited to see a co-worker rock an ultra cute and flattering dress. Simply fabulous!

Wondering why this works so well? A couple of reasons. It's an a line dress that floats away from the lower portion of her body perfectly. The belt breaks up the pattern on the dress and sinches her waist creating a nice figure. Lastly, the nude shoes make her legs appear much longer.

Celebrate Fashion in the D

This past Friday I assisted with a photo shoot for FreeStyle In Detroit called "FreeStyle In Detroit Fashion Portfolio Jam Session". Stylist and Organizer of the event, Alvita Lozano-Frankie, put together some amazing pieces of clothing, beautiful models, great photographers, R.U.B.Y. jewelry and a fabulous location. This event was an amazing celebration of fashion in Detroit and I am very appreciative I was able to help with on-site styling and provide jewelry.

More pictures to come soon.

Florida Style

These past couple of weeks have been crazy! My friend is getting married in July so I have been in Outer Banks, North Carolina celebrating a week long Bachelorette party.

Before my trip, I helped a friend accessorize some outfits for a Florida trip. She thankfully took one picture that she said I could use on my blog. While I know this is only one picture, I am extremely thankful she took one and said I could use it!

She paired a very simple black tank and skirt (very cute even though you cannot see it) with a chunky necklace and flower ring. This is perfect for Florida weather because it is simple yet in style. More importantly, she felt great!  Adorable!
